March is the month when thoughts turn to Spring in Castlegar. Already the sun has been warming the lower elevations so it’s not uncommon to see people boating on the Columbia River and Arrow Lakes, walking the pathways of Millennium Park and even rock climbing on south-facing walls at Kinnaird Bluffs and Pub Wall, Canada’s only natural rock climbing wall situated behind a pub and restaurant.

The best part is it’s still snowy up high so you can enjoy snowmobiling, Nordic skiing or snowboarding and skiing in the alpine one day and then go rock climbing the next. The water is still far too cold to enjoying swimming though, so we suggest visiting the pool at the Castlegar Recreation Centre for the time being. For other fun indoor activities during the month of March, read our article “10 Fun Indoor Places To Visit When It’s Raining.”

The month of March 2019 in Castlegar also boasts three unique events that will appeal to women, anglers and fashionistas. See below for more info.
