Sculpture Walk

Castlegar is trademarked the “Sculpture Capital of Canada” because every May 30 new pieces from local and global artists are placed around the city. People are then encouraged to get a voting ballot, visit all the sculptures and rate which ones are their favourites. The votes are counted every October and the most popular sculpture is purchased by the city.

Alternative to Violence Workshop

The Alternative to Violence Project empowers the public through a three-day workshop. Attendees will learn how to promote and use the principle of participation to help restore and build positive relationships. You’ll also learn basic nonviolent communication, de-escalation and conflict resolution methods.

“Through the Whirlpool” Book Launch

The community is invited to the launch of “Through the Whirlpool – Swept up in the Nazi Apocalypse.” This book is Karl Koerber’s biographical account of his parents’ journey through the Nazi years, WWII and their migration to Canada, which encapsulates the stories of many Germans whose lives were thrown into turmoil during the Nazi reign.

Spring Fling 2019

Hibernation Season is over! Spring fling is the annual kickoff event in downtown Castlegar that gets the whole family out and celebrating the community. There will be live entertainment, food, vendors, a car show, 3-on-3 hockey, kids games, face painting, bouncy castles and more.

Rebels Golf Tournament

This all ages event is a fundraiser for the Castlegar Rebels hockey team and is a scramble format. Teams of four or single players are welcome. Proceeds go towards current and graduating players through scholarships and assisting current players in need.

Castlegar Rotary Diamond Dinner

This is the 18th year for the Diamond Dinner and the theme is Masquerade Ball. There are some exceptional items up for auction for this fundraiser including a gourmet dinner for 8, Vancouver Canucks tickets, and a new Samsung front-loading washer and dryer set. Plus some lucky lady will go home with a diamond ring valued at $6,000!

Twin Rivers Community Choir Spring Concert

Created in 2010 the Twin Rivers Community Choir is a group of enthusiastic singers that performs under the talented leadership of director Christina Nolan, who was trained at the University of Toronto and has sung professionally with the Calgary Opera. The group’s repertoire ranges widely from classical to pop to Broadway, jazz, world music and more.
