Rebels Home Games

The Castlegar Rebels of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is a Junior B team that was first established in 1976 and in that time has won four championships, most recently in 2013. The team will enjoy many home games in the month of February at the Castlegar Recreation Centre.

Saints Home Games

The Selkirk College Saints hockey team has been entertaining crowds since 1966 and in the past 12 years they’ve won the provincial championship four years in a row from 2013 to 2016. The team has two home games in November against Trinity Western at the Castlegar Recreation Centre.

Various Nights

$5 Movies at Castle Theatre

The Castle Theatre (also known as “The Old Theatre”) in downtown Castlegar is offering a special discount for various nights throughout the month. For only $5 you can see great movies in the comfort of an historic theatre. This month’s $5 movies include Joker, The Maltese Falcon, Honeyland, Mad Max Fury Road and more.

Soup For the Cultured Soul

Soup is on! The annual fundraising event for the Kootenay Gallery features hand-made pottery (you get to keep your bowl) as well as a sampling of soups created by local chefs. This year there are eight restaurants/caterers competing for the title of “People’s Favourite.” Participating chefs are from The Black Rooster, Kim’s Creations, The Lion’s Head, The Wandering Greek Oven, Roots, The Grand Buddha Bistro, Maggie’s Mug and The Nineteenth.
