There’s nothing quite like watching snowflakes falling on cedars. Heck, there’s a best-selling book and blockbuster movie about just such a thing. And Castlegar boasts plenty of cedar, pine, spruce and other evergreen trees where the world-famous Kootenay champagne powder collects. We’re starting to see some of that happen now and that means it’s time to get excited for the onset of the snowy season. There’s so much to do in Castlegar during the winter months (check out our story about the top 5 things to do in the city in the winter) and now we’ve decided to celebrate the onset of the season with the Snowplace Like Home Festival.

Lasting from December 1st to the 15th, the Snowplace Like Home Festival in Castlegar features indoor and outdoor events every day and night to help you get fit and exited for the winter season; relax and eat well; as well as prepare for days of gift giving.
